Lawal Mijinyawa is a seasoned insurance executive with a distinguished 25-year career marked by progressive leadership and strategic vision. As MD/CEO, he leverages deep expertise in actuarial science, marketing, regulatory compliance, and general management to drive organizational success. His proficiency extends to policy formulation and evaluation, pension administration, and the implementation of impactful marketing strategies for diverse insurance products. He possesses a demonstrable record of effectively leading and mentoring high-performing technical and marketing teams, consistently delivering results in areas such as Life Assurance, Oil and Gas, public sector insurance penetration, and the complexities of enterprise privatization. Mr. Mijinyawa’s academic credentials include a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Jos and an MBA from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He holds professional affiliations with the Nigerian Institute of Management, the Nigerian Institute of Marketing, and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), and also Associate member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), underscoring his commitment to professional excellence.   

Mr. Mijinyawa’s career trajectory reflects a consistent pattern of increasing responsibility and leadership. Prior to his current role as MD/CEO of KBL Insurance Limited, he served as Executive Director (Technical & Marketing) and Executive Director (Operations) at Niger Insurance Plc, Unity Kapital Assurance Plc,  demonstrating his multifaceted expertise within the organization. His governance experience also includes service on the board of Montgomery Security Vaults Nigeria Limited. A commitment to continuous learning is exemplified by his participation in executive development programs at institutions such as the Lagos Business School and international organizations like the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (London), Advanced Oil and Gas Training at Sackville House, London and also Reinsurance  international convened by WAICA RE (Sierra Leone). His thought leadership is further evidenced by a portfolio of publications addressing critical issues in the insurance sector, ranging from the strategic importance of Group Life Assurance, branch management and the role of capital markets in privatization initiatives.
